The Old Castle

With the so-called Old Castle from the late 16th Century, the former residence town received its first palace.

Under the direction of Christoph Wolf Pappenheim, the building was born as a generous extension to an existing city castle. The main shows simple Renaissance forms, with its four corner towers, the round windows, the portal frame on columns and the characteristic gables.

Today the old castle serves as the residence of the Count's family von und zu Egloffstein and it is not accessible to the public.
