The beginnings of Pappenheim

The settlement of the area to the present Pappenheim, goes back to the later Stone Age. By 400 before Christ, Celts here settled down.

The area around Pappenheim and Weißenburg was since primitive times , linchpin with appropriate strategic importance, because of an intersection, west-eastern (Nibelungenstraße) and north-south trade routes.

A first major settlements should be created, around the year 500, when the Franks displaced the Alemanni.
